I just found a group in my area that meets once a month to trade artist’s cards. Has anybody traded over dA or outside of dA? I’ve noticed that some are sold on eBay, but thought that defeated the purpose of the cards. I’ve been busy producing some and find them to be quick and fun. So, who’s trading out there?

I’m going to be working small for a bit. Small paintings and drawings. I haven’t the energy for bigger right now. And I would like a larger scanner, because my present one leaves shadows when scanning anything larger than 5x7. Never behaved like that before – maybe time to replace. I feel drained anyway. I’m glad spring will be here soon.

See my poll. I usually try to thank or return comments when someone takes the time to view my work, but it’s near impossible. I’m wondering if it is an annoying habit anyway. At any rate, I really do greatly appreciate the support and try to return it whenever possible.

Why does it seem like art classes are only available during the week day. I work days, dang it! I’ve been looking into taking classes for the last year and a half – haven’t had ANY luck finding one that will fit my schedule. Geez…


So I guess I did have something to say.

OK – I know I tend to over-analyze … a lot. But I’ve come across several outstanding galleries that (I feel) are not getting the dev-love they deserve. So, I’m inclined to suggest a few DD’s. However, I feel that, as a courtesy to the artist, I should ask if they mind if I suggested one of their pieces. It’s along the lines of featuring someone’s art in your journal and dropping the artist a note to let them know. Is this a good idea?

DD’s are a great way to get traffic in your gallery, but sometimes it can be like opening the floodgates. So, I was wondering if there was some kind of etiquette that exists for this sort of thing.

Has anyone ever suggested a DD that was accepted? Is it more thrilling to be surprised by logging into your account and having a ka-zillion messages? Or is it better to know before hand, but risk having the knowledge that the DD suggestion was not accepted?

OK - I’m so frick’n sick of coming across fan art on dA that so OBVIOUSLY CAME FROM A FRICK’N COLORING PAGE, MOVIE STILL OR RIPPED FROM ANOTHER ARTIST!!!. If the line art is not yours, you need to state that in your description and reference your sources. I know… this would be an admission that you didn’t draw something and you probably won’t get the praise you’re after. But, if you traced or scanned in someone else’s line work, it’s not YOUR WORK! C’mon people! If you want to be a good artist, you need to practice drawing! If you just want to be popular on the web, open a MySpace Page. Stop ripping off other people’s work, you lazy, deceitful jerks!

I’ve decided to remove some older art in my gallery and move other pieces into scraps. I’m in the process of really thinking about where my art is going and feel that I need to clear the clutter. I really appreciate the feedback and faves that I received on these pieces, but I feel it’s time to remove them. I just felt this gallery needed to be a bit more focused and I really wanted to get rid of the pieces that I never felt good about.

At least it did for me – for an entire month. Work kept me very busy. That, and the fact that this winter has been the worst in memory for me. Long hours at work coupled with 2+ hour commutes (one way, folks), pretty much sucked. I did work on some scroll assignments for court (SCA), but other than that, I did little art. I have works that I started a month ago just collecting dust. Now I feel rusty.

I just read that daylight savings actually increases utility costs. I hate, hate, hate, having to adjust to daylight savings. What is the freak’n point of it, really? At least there’ll be some daylight left when I return from work on Monday.
